Firefighter Larry Browne on Nonprofit Social Media Panel

Larry Browne, fire prevention officer, public relations chair, and  firefighter/photographer with the Doylestown Fire Co, will share his insights on social media as a panelist at the 2012 SoMeBizLife Conference, May 30 at DelVal College in Doylestown. Larry will be on the panel moderated by Karen Graziano of Villanova along with Beth Baker of Deserving Decor and Jamie Haddon of Bucks County United Way.

A rabid early-adopter of all things technical and communications, Larry’s first online accounts were on CompuServe with a numeric username, and on AOL with a 6-character username. He built his first website in 1997 with Claris Front Page, and remembers all too well the screech and squeal of a modem connecting at a screaming 2400 baud.

Active (read: obsessively uses) on Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Instagram, 500px, and lots of other social platforms as firepix1979, he’s never met a cloud-based social platform he hasn’t tried.

A Pennsylvania state certified local level instructor at the Bucks County Emergency Services Training Center. Larry has also taught at the Philadelphia Fire Academy’s Outreach program and was a presenter at FDIC 2006. His article on digital photography was published in the October 2006 issue of Fire Engineering, and has had photos published in Fire Engineering, Firehouse Magazine, and numerous newspapers. An award-winning photojournalist, he has photographed fires for over 15 years and has been shooting professionally for over 25 years. Larry is the senior SIP support engineer for Junction Networks in their Doylestown office.
