If you’re working as a social media professional you probably already know a lot, but there’s always more to learn! It would be hard to imagine a session that would not be a great opportunity for any of us to learn, but here’s what we would recommend.
Opening Platform: SoMeBizLife — Welcome to the Revolution!
In the opening session, five speakers will help you understand why everyone’s so excited about social media, how it’s changing the way we all do business and why it’s vital for you as an aspiring social media professional to see the big picture as you begin to move forward in your new profession. The speakers are very smart, successful people. What is really great about them is that they are very friendly and will be willing to answer your questions personally during breaks and between sessions!
After the opening general session and before lunch, you’ll get to pick two smaller breakout sessions where experts will give you great ideas and specific things that you can start doing right away to get moving or improve your social media efforts. You can choose any one of 5 topics in each of the two sessions, but we would recommend that you consider:
Breakout 1: Are We the Gods of Social?
History is filled with countless examples of ordinary people besting so called experts. Nothing indicates this better than Greek mythology where the over-confident Gods were often thwarted by quick-thinking, creative mortals. And so it’s only fitting that as social media “experts,” “mavens,” “gurus” and “wizards” should take a careful look at ourselves, other professionals and “mortals” and see what we all have to learn about this. A modest, friendly and talented professional, Gloria Bell will lead this interactive session which is sure to result in some interesting discussions.
Breakout 2: Where Do I Fit in All of This?
In this participatory “Pro Session” social media thought leader Greg Lowe will lead professionals in an exploration of “Where Do I Fit in All of This?” Are social media and social business practices the domain of IT, marketing, public relations, human resources, corporate communications, customer service, project management, innovation, production development, consulting or training professionals? The midday break will be wonderful, not just because of the excellent food that will be provided to us by the good folks at DelVal, but also because it will provide you an hour to informally learn from others as you exchange business cards, share ideas and build relationships with speakers and fellow participants that will last well beyond the conference day. After lunch, you’ll get to choose two more breakouts.
Breakout 3: The Value of Social Media for Organizational Leaders
As a professional working at an advanced level social business, you’re probably used to organizational leaders asking why they should invest in social media and social business tools. In this interactive session, Skip Shuda will lead professionals through a discussion of how we can most effectively demonstrate the value of social media to leaders. For more information, click here.
Breakout 4: What’s Next for Social Media Professionals?
In this interactive Pro-Session, veteran communication and technology professional Steve Lubetkin will lead participants in a discussion of what lies ahead for social media professionals. Steve will draw on his years of navigating the twists and turns of technological innovation in both the corporate world and his own consulting practice to help develop a vision for successfully navigating the future. Closing Panel: Social Changes Media, Changes Lives
In the final session of the day, everyone will be back together in the big room. Five social media experts who work as journalists, public relations professionals and writers will share how social media is being used on a local, national and international level to help people connect with each other producing dramatic results that change lives – and that can help you in your social business efforts.
We’re looking forward to having you at the conference, June 1 at DelVal – register now!
