About Social Media, Social Business, Social Life

What the heck is going on with social media? I ask that just about every day, as I page through Facebook, check for new items on Twitter, and get annoyed by a lot of what I see on Linkedin. What powerful resources we have at our disposal in all of the social media! But what should we really be doing with this to make it better and more powerful and more effective for our businesses and our lives?

That’s why we’re doing Social Media, Social Business, Social Life: What Now!? So we can figure this all out and do it better! I hope you will join us on this next part of the SoMeBizLife journey. You may appreciate the journey more if you know where we have been.

SoMeBizLife History

In the winter of 2010-11, after attending some excellent social media programs in New York and Philadelphia, it occurred to me — “Why don’t we bring top-notch social media learning opportunities right to Doylestown, Bucks County — a central location for people in Philadelphia, Central New Jersey, The Lehigh Valley and the Western Suburbs?”

And so I did, with a wonderful cast of amazing speakers, presenters, organizers, leaders, innovators — phenomenal people who all gave of their time for little personal gain other than the satisfaction of sharing what they know with others!

In 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 we created a series of large conferences, training programs, small events and engaging programs that ranged a variety of topics and formulations. Among them:

  • 2011 SoMeBizLife Conference
  • 2011 Doylestown Social Mobile Conference
  • 2012 SoMeBizLife Conference
  • 2012 The Social Business Future
  • 2013 SoMeBizLife – Social Media for Nonprofits
  • 2013 Social Business Institute, Profiles in Social (Collaborated in lieu of SoMeBizLife Conference
  • 2014 SoMoHealth — Social Media, Mobile Technology and Health
  • Doylestown Social Networking Roundtable with SoMeBizLife – Various dates 2013-2016
  • 2015 SoMeBizLife Conference at Delaware Valley University

In 2015, I minimized the SoMeBizLife efforts, because frankly there was just too much going on. Too much good stuff in my business consulting and coaching business — and too much mediocrity in social media programming in our part of the world. Or maybe I was just bored with social media and needed a break. Throughout the past year, I have heard from many people who have been part of SoMeBizLife in the past. “Bring it back. . . Bring it back! . . . BRING IT BACK!!!” And so we have. We hope you will join us on January 11, 2021, for our online conference.
